Junior First Responder Camp 2018
Junior Camp Does your child (age 11-13) want to learn about saving lives? Does your child (age 14-16) have an interest in learning more about firefighting, emergency medical services (EMS) or law enforcement?

Firefighters, EMS providers and law enforcement professionals are the first responders that work together to help save lives every day.

HACC is hosting fun, interactive and educational first responder camps in summer 2018! During the four-day camps, middle and high school students will learn from professionals who work and train as first responders in our community!

 

Beginner Camp for Ages 11-13

Date: June 18-21, 2018
Time: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Location: Senator John J. Shumaker Public Safety Center (PSC), Gate 5
Cost: $250 per child (includes a T-shirt, snacks, transportation for field trips and a pizza party on the final day)
Students will learn about and participate in activities related to:

American Heart Association First Aid and CPR certificationJunior Camp 11
Crime scene investigation
Fire extinguisher safety and training
Internet safety
Live fire
Physical training
Police dogs (K-9)
Self-defense
Water rescue (to take place at HACC’s pool)
Additionally, students will participate in a panel discussion with professionals from the field and visit the Pennsylvania National Fire Museum and Harrisburg Bureau of Fire. The camp concludes with an obstacle course, so students can demonstrate the skills they learned.

 

Intermediate Camp for Ages 14-16 or 2017 Participants Camper

Date: July 30-Aug. 2, 2018 (ages 14-16 or 2017 participants)
Time: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Location: Senator John J. Shumaker Public Safety Center (PSC), Gate 5
Cost: $250 per child (includes a T-shirt, snacks, transportation for field trips and a pizza party on the final day) This camp is for students who attended our 2017 camp or for children ages 14-16. The camp introduces more advanced skill sets used by EMS, firefighters and law enforcement.
Students will learn about and participate in activities related to:

Emergency scenes scenarios
Firework safety scenarios
Gun safety
Police dog (K-9) tracking
Self- defense
Slope rescue
Stop The Bleed (a national awareness campaign)
Water rescue (to take place at HACC’s pool)
