A tip from a reporter led to the arrest of a man suspected of shooting a Norcross security guard in November.

Mario Guevara with Mundo Hispanico called the Gwinnett County Police Department Monday at about 1:30 p.m. to say he’d received information that Enrique Carrera, was at a home on Lawndale Court.

“Officers assigned to the West Precinct formed a plan and successfully arrested Carrerea at the home without incident,” said Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Michele Pihera.

Carrera is accused of shooting a security guard in the leg at Cafe Area 504 on Nov. 24, 2016. The guard was allegedly trying to break up a fight in which Carrera was involved.

He was booked into Gwinnett County jail shortly after 8 p.m. and is being held without bond on charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon during a crime, reckless conduct and drug trafficking.
