DENVER - It's what men and women in uniform do every day without a second thought, but on Wednesday an officer's act of selflessness was caught on camera.
As Denver police and additional security officers responded to a chaotic fatal shooting scene downtown, a touching moment was caught on camera.
A Denver police officer provides cover with his rifle as what appears to be a security guard helps a mother get her young daughter from their parked car nearby the scene to safety.
The security guard shields the little girl with his own body as he turns his back to the scene as it unfolded, running the girl to safety.
When the video was filmed, police were attempting to take a possible suspect into custody, who had boarded a nearby RTD bus. The mother and her daughter were struggling to get out of their car safely during the chaos.
Police say two people were shot, one fatally, after the altercation near the 16th Street Mall.
