ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —

An Orange County apartment complex’s armed security guard detained a man accused of shooting a man on a dirt bike Friday, deputies said.

The shooting was reported in front of the Hidden Creek Villas Apartments on Rivertree Circle, near Palmetto Elementary School just before 11:30 a.m.

Deputies said a man fired shots from a vehicle at a dirt bike rider and then retreated into the complex.

The biker was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The security guard detained the gunman until deputies arrived.

Sheriff’s Office officials said it is unclear why shots were fired.

Palmetto Elementary School operations were not impacted.
