A woman stabbed a security guard after a fight between the two erupted in the lobby of a downtown San Diego hotel early Christmas morning.

Police said the woman was causing some sort of disturbance at the Golden West Hotel on Fourth Avenue when the security guard approached her about 12:35 a.m.

The 56-year-old guard ultimately tried removing the woman from the lobby, and a struggle ensued. She stabbed him in the arm during the fight before fleeing.

The guard was taken to a hospital with a stab wound to his right bicep, police said. The injury was not considered life-threatening.
