The CPO program is designed for protection
professionals intent on
improving their individual security skills.
Successful CPO’s are finding that
the program significantly improves
job performance and job enjoyment by providing a broader
understanding
of the roles, duties and responsibilities of the protection
officer.
The
Protection Officer Training Manual is a comprehensive
guide and instructional text which covers all of the subjects
essential to the effective training of protection officers.
There are 12 training units with each unit broken into chapters
written by leading security trainers and educators. Included
in the manual are self-quizzes at the end of each chapter
and hundreds of diagrams and illustrations. An Instructor’s
Guide is also available. It provides instruction tips, learning
objectives, practical training exercises and test items.
The
Protection Officer Training Manual is published by
Butterworth-Heinemann and consists of 43 chapters authored
by some of the security industry’s leading professionals.

as:

There are two delivery methods available
to complete the Certified Protection Officer (CPO) program.
TRADITIONAL DISTANCE DELIVERY –
HOME STUDY/CORRESPONDENCE - Candidates must study the
"Protection Officer Training Manual" and successfully
complete an unsupervised midterm examination and a proctored
final examination.
COMPUTER BASED DELIVERY – In keeping
with the IFPO's commitment to presenting quality training
using the most current, proven training delivery systems,
we now offer a computer-based version of this ever-popular
program. Added to the traditional text-based version,
this new version allows each student to select the training
option that suits his or her personal training needs and
learning styles. The computer-based version of this program
contains the information in the manual, so it does not
require the purchase of a manual. However, many students
still prefer to have the manual as they work through the
lessons. You can order a manual to accompany the computer-based
version for just $25, if you order it online. You must
be enrolled in the program to qualify for the special
price. The CBT version has only one final examination,
which must be proctored, as well as shorter quizzes throughout
the material.
Which Version is Right for You?
The new computer-based version works best
for people who are comfortable using computers and those
who just prefer working on a computer to using pencil and
paper.
The computer-based versions allow students
to train anywhere, anytime. All they need is a computer,
and Internet access. The computer-based version works very
well for anyone who is trying to fit training into an already
hectic schedule, especially a schedule with irregular hours
that can make it difficult to attend regular classroom training.
Students can log in, work on lessons as long as they want,
then log back out. When they log in again, they resume right
where they left off.
This program can be implemented into a classroom
environment and be used to augment a present training program
