Certified Retail Loss Prevention
The retail loss prevention (LP) agent's work is challenging
and continually scrutinized. Perhaps no other private protection
function exposes the individual officer to greater physical
risks or legal liability. The series focuses on awareness
and prevention of internal theft, types of external theft,
and legal basics. The OCT level builds upon the knowledge
acquired by students in the OBT and OST basic course work;
it contains 7 hours of specific coursework in Homeland Security
I: Emerging Threats, Homeland Security V: Bombs & Bomb
Threat Management, Homeland Security VII: Crisis Management,
Homeland Security VIII: Special Protective Operations, Physical
Security I: The Fundamentals, Physical Security III: Electronic
Access Systems, and HAZMAT. The courses are delivered on-line
or in CD-ROM format.
