IFPO Training Partners
The International Foundation for Protection Officers has
established strategic partnerships with leading training
service firms. Partnering with Advanced Systems Technology
Inc. (AST) and the Professional Security Training Network
(PSTN) enables the non-profit IFPO to offer members an extensive
array of discounts on professionally produced state-of-the
art training products. Training products such as video programs
and computer based training packages support Foundation
educational objectives. The discounts help make them affordable
so that professional education reaches a greater number
of protection officers and supervisors.
AST is a leading systems and software engineering company
providing instructional programming to the Department of
Defense as well as private industry. AST has developed High
Impact Training Solutions (HITS) which provides CD-ROM and
web-based instructional programs. The HITS series has basic
programs for entry-level security officers as well as a
specialty topics such as Homeland Security, Retail Loss
Prevention, Public Events Specialty and Physical Security.

PSTN offers an extensive library of video programs consisting
of several hundred titles. There is a monthly subscription
service consisting of training tapes, tests and related
courseware. The subscription is ideal for continuous professional
development. The Network also has several tape series on
Canadian Law, Healthcare Security and Shopping Mall Security.
The Basic Security Officer Training Series (BSOTS) is a
widely used instructional program throughout North America.

Partnering with and supporting other organizations has
enabled the IFPO to make a significant impact on professionalism
with the security industry. The PSTN BSOTS program was written
with an eye toward introducing the student to the Certified
Protection Officer (CPO) Program as well as ASIS International.
The HITS series provide more specialized growth opportunities.
Many persons become CPO's then complete the Certified in
Security Supervision and Management (CSSM) accreditation
and later the ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
designation.
