Chris Hertig, an IFPO board member, contributed to the book and assisted with historical research on Kate Warne, the first female investigator in the United States. Hired by the famous Alan Pinkerton in 1856, Mrs. Warne took part in many important cases, including protecting President-Elect Lincoln from the Baltimore plot on the eve of the Civil War. She later recruited and trained women for the Pinkerton Agency and became Superintendent of the Female Detective Bureau.

Mr. Hertig taught Criminal Justice at York College of Pennsylvania for several decades and was a Nuclear Security Training Administrator. He has published extensively and been active with professional organizations and nonprofits.
