Naples, FL -- The International Foundation for Protection Officers is pleased to announce the appointment of Joseph H. McDonald, CPP, PSP, CMAS to its
board of directors.

IFPO Executive Director Sandi Davies cited McDonald’s experience in law enforcement and with the military, combined with his expertise in adult education and security, as key keys to continuing to fulfill and enhance IFPO’s mission of providing pathways to improve career possibilities for individuals pursuing professional development.

“IFPO is fortunate to have Joe as a member of our leadership team," IFPO Chairman Dr. Linda Florence, CPP, said. "His advanced credentials in strategic security, combined with global reach and leadership experience, will provide the board with valuable perspectives on IFPO’s research initiatives and resources. We are excited to channel Joe’s talent and energy into furthering our mission and expanding our research program.”

McDonald is a retired chief security officer for Switch Ltd., where he was responsible for building the data center company’s personnel, physical infrastructure and information security. For the past 35 years, McDonald has purposefully worked in many aspects of the security profession, as a private investigator, police officer, corporate facility security officer for a defense contractor, security director for a national bank, senior security consultant and engineered systems sales manager
for major systems integrators, where he designed large security and surveillance systems.

McDonald served as secretary, treasurer and vice president of the ASIS Board of Trustees for the organization’s international foundation. In addition, he spent two terms on the ASIS Board of Directors and four years as council vice president, where his leadership and oversight guided six councils and their volunteer members. McDonalld is often sought for his opinions on training, certification programs, procedures and policy issues. He is most proud of his advisory role with the Veterans Tribute Career and Technical Academy, a Clark County, Nevada, Magnet High School.
