Steve, the stressed-out security robot.

Security robots have been introduced in Dubai, Silicon Valley corporations and California malls -- so is the implication it's the future of security, that machines will eventually replace humans?

Well, apparently robots aren't totally immune from the emotions that sometimes plague humans, like boredom, or stress.

Maybe it was an emotion like that that caused "Steve" the security robot to plunge into a fountain in Washington, DC recently, eliciting members of the media and others to joke it was a "suicide."

Or maybe the steps leading to the fountain were difficult. Either way, looks like it's back to the drawing board for Steve's builder, Knightscope, who laughed right along with others, tweeting, "Security robot, yes. Submarine robot, no. Got it."

And security officers the world over can breathe a sigh of relief knowing they still have a bit of "job security." -- IFPO.
