Amazon ready to hire 1,000+ security officers in Seattle area

By Neal McNamara , Patch Staff

SEATTLE, WA — Last week, Amazon announced that it would drop a security contractor in favor of two new companies. Now one of those companies is holding a massive hiring event.

On May 29, Amazon security contractor Security Industry Specialists (SIS) announced it would lay off its 1,066 Amazon guards by the end of July. But the layoffs are happening because Amazon is dropping SIS for two security companies that use union labor: Securitas and Allied Universal.

Allied Universal will hold the first of several hiring events beginning on June 6 to fill those 1,066 jobs, although the laid-off guards will likely be vying for the spots. Here are the details:

  • Every Wednesday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 801 South Fidalgo St., Floor 2, Seattle
  • Apply online anytime
Applicants should: have a high school diploma or GED; be at least 18, but 21 for positions that involve driving; have a valid drivers license; be able to pass a drug and alcohol test; be able to pass a background check.
