With decisive actions and a compassionate heart, Valiant Private Security Officer Christopher Gomez was able to thwart a sexual assault and take a predator off the street in San Jose, Calif.

According to a report by   of KTVU, Gomez said he was in the back portion of a parking lot at a shopping center when he noticed a suspicious vehicle. Approaching the vehicle, he found a 70-year-old man and 13-year-old girl in the back seat. When Gomez asked the girl if she was ok, she gave him a blank stare and then said no.

Gomez then acted swiftly, not knowing if the man was armed.

From Gary's story:

“I drew my weapon and I had the guy get out of the car. I had to act quick because I didn’t know if he had any weapons in the car or if she was in danger at that point,” Gomez said.

Congratulations to Gomez on a job well done. In true security professional form, he was humble, saying he was just doing his job.

According to Wayne Thiele of the Security Officers of America Facebook page, "Officer Gomez will be presented with a Meritorious Award for his brave and decisive actions that rescued the teenager."
