The case has often been made for an increase in the training security officers receive. In a May 31 update, Tom M. Conley, President & CEO, The Conley Group, Inc. gives details about the training his offices must undergo:Eight more Conley Group Security Officers completed the capstone phase of the Firearms Training and Qualification Course on May 25, 2016 at the Des Moines Regional Police Academy. As is the case with the all less-than lethal weapons training and qualifications, all our security officers who carry firearms must successfully complete this course – both in class and on the range. In fact, this course includes the requirement for each security officer being required to qualify to the State of Iowa peace officer standards on the range. This same course is also the FBI course of fire which is standard for peace officer qualifications nationwide.

Senior Des Moines Police Officer Sone Cam is the chief instructor for all courses our security officers complete at the Des Moines Regional Police Academy. SPO Cam is a state-certified police trainer and serves as a team leader of the Metro Special Tactics and Response (S.T.A.R.) Team. He is also a lead instructor in several areas for all Des Moines Police recruits.

Photos and video clips of this class in action are available to view here.

And from The Conley Group's website, there's this:

The Conley Group’s security service offerings include On-Site Armed Security Services, On-Site Unarmed Security Services, Mobile Patrol Security and Alarm Response Service. Our company enjoys the well-deserved reputation of being the “best in class” in private security. Unlike traditional guards that have little or no training, our security officers must meet rigorous employment and training standards, and must complete the Certified Protection Officer (CPO) certification program or they are not retained. In contrast, Iowa Law fails to require State-licensed security personnel to complete ANY training whatsoever. The fact is that The Conley Group is the only security services organization in Iowa that requires specialized training and professional certification for all its personnel.
