Family and friends gathered in Gresham Saturday evening to honor slain security guard Luccas McNeill in a candlelight vigil. Sunday marks one week since the 28-year-old's mysterious shooting death.

"I know he was loved. I knew he was loved but between them turning out and the Facebook messages that have been coming in,"McNeill's sister, Lucy told KATU News, pausing to turn around and look at the group gathered behind her. "He could make a friend out a random stranger. He really could."

"He would give his own shirt off is own back to help you in any way that he possibly could. He was nice. He was vigilant. He had integrity," fellow security guard Andrew Mackinmon said.

The gathering was also a public push for answers as police are still looking for McNeill's killer.

Investigators say someone shot and killed the security guard just before midnight on August 7. He was found next to a car on Northeast 81st Avenue and Tillamook Street. A witness told police they heard gunshots and then the sound of a car speeding off.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Portland Police.

McNeill was working as a security guard at the time of his death, helping to support his mother and sister. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help support McNeill's family.
