PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A Florida security guard had a doubly bad work day after he accidentally shot himself in the leg and then was arrested for it.

Panama City Beach police said Maurice James was working at the Harley Davidson store in Panama City on Friday when he accidentally shot himself in the leg.

Police said he displayed the gun in a careless manner and was not actively engaged in self-defense or the protection of another person.

The News Herald reports he was taken to the hospital for treatment and charged with improper display of a firearm.
