In October, we brought you the story of University of Florida Health Security Officer Davay Kinsey, whose actions undoubtedly saved the life of a firefighter stabbed by a patient he was transporting.
"Once they got control of that patient, my first instinct was just to get Captain Norris on my golf cart and take him straight to the trauma unit," she said at the time.
Now, Kinsey is on the road to becoming a member of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. According to CBS 47/FOX 30 Action News Jax, Kinsey was gifted a scholarship to attend the fire academy at a recent news conference:
“He (JFRD Chief Keith Powers) was thanking me for my courage and strength to do what I did that night for Capt. Norris, and out of nowhere he was like, ‘Hey, I got an offer for you. Have you ever thought of being a JFRD member?’”
Her tuition, books and fees are covered thanks to JFRD, Florida State College at Jacksonville and UF Health Jacksonville.
