This is what it's all about -- security professionals working seamlessly with law enforcement in order to protect citizens, so congratulations to both the security officer and the Unified Police Department of Salt Lake City for a job well done.

On Monday, officers from the Unified Police Department of Salt Lake City responded to an apartment complex for a domestic disturbance. Once there, they were ambushed by gunfire emanating from the apartment. In a subsequent firefight between police and suspect Michael Tyson Nance, an officer suffered a gunshot to the leg.

Nance fled the apartment, leaving a fresh blood trail, and inside, police found a deceased Natalie Thurber, 34, of Salt Lake City.

According to privateofficerbreakingnews, that's when an unnamed security officer helped in the apprehension:

"The gunman ran from the apartment. He was captured a short time later near 200 South and 500 East with the help of a security guard, according to police. He was then taken to the hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound and will be booked into jail after he is released."

According to KSL.com, "The officer who was shot has been released from the hospital but will have a long recovery period, according to Unified police."
