ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. April 6 2017 - It’s a battle between security officers and sheriff’s deputies at an extended stay motel on Orange Blossom Trail in Florida.

Thirteen security officers are now facing criminal charges of trespassing and armed trespassing after a late-night sweep at the Great Value Suites.

They could face more charges for illegally possessing narcotics and drug paraphernalia that they confiscated from hotel residents. Deputies also confiscated the security officers’ guns.

The security guards went back to the motel, even though deputies told them to stay away. The owner of Freeman Security maintains that deputies do not have the right to arrest his officers, but the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and other security companies said what happened with the guards is a problem.

The security company owner stated that he is fighting back, saying he was following orders from the property manager, and had the right to conduct the sweep.

The Sheriff’s Office said in an email that the night deputies charged Freeman Security officers with trespassing, “Legal experts said the document provided at the business did not allow them to enter the patrons’ rooms.”

Freeman Security said security guards confiscated drugs that night, claiming deputies turned a blind eye.
