Great work by security officers at the Plaza Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas recently, putting out a fire that, although small, potentially could have been more damaging. This incident highlights the importance of a skilled and dedicated security force. They are the first responders -- they are there before the firefighters get there, they are there before police get there. They have to be jacks-of-all-trades, in what they are capable of physically and also mentally. A certification from the IFPO can go a long way in preparing a security officer for the unpredictability that lies ahead. -- IFPO.
LAS VEGAS NV September 17 2019 Las Vegas Fire and Rescue responded to the Plaza Hotel and Casino in downtown Saturday evening after a small fire was reported in one of the hotel rooms.
According to LVFR, the fire was inside a room on the 14th floor and started around 6:00 p.m.
Using a fire extinguisher, security officers were able to put the fire out before firefighters arrived.
There was no extension to other areas of the hotel no injuries were reported.
Operations inside the hotel were back to normal as of 6:37 p.m., according to LVFR.
No information was provided as to what caused the fire.
