LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — One person has died after a being shot by a security officer in downtown Las Vegas Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Officers responded to west end of the Fremont Street Experience around 2 p.m. on a report of shots fired, Officer Aden OcampoGomez said.

The security guard reportedly was patrolling the area near a bus stop outside of Binions on Casino Center Boulevard. The guard became involved in a physical altercation with an unarmed man at a bus stop.

Early reports indicate that there was a struggle over the guard's firearm before the officer fired one shot at the man, killing him.

The man, who was in his early 40s, was taken to UMC and later died, according to OcampoGomez.

Officers have pulled surveillance video from nearby businesses to try to determine what has happened.
