A man was hospitalized Wednesday morning with a gunshot wound to the chest after a security guard found him lying on the side of the road in northwest Houston, according to Metro Video.

The man's current condition is unclear. The security guard found him on her way to work around 2:40 a.m. on the side of the road near North Loop West and Directors Row, Metro Video reported.

Houston police said the man may have been shot in a disturbance at the nearby Springhill Hotel. The shooter reportedly fled, police said.

It's unclear whether the security guard worked at the hotel. No further information was available overnight. The investigation is ongoing.
