Security professionals don't help others to be thanked. They do it because they feel a calling and know they are good at it. That said, it is always heartwarming when someone who has been helped reaches out and thanks the person who helped them. That's exactly what happened in South Africa recently. Hit-and-run victim Jenilee Mosdell could have simply gone on with her life -- and that would have been fine -- but she took the time to thank security officer Theo Breedt for coming to her aid after the crash and gathering information that led to charges against the alleged perpetrator. It makes for a great ending to what started as an unpleasant situation.  -- IFPO.

From the Pretoria Moot Rekord --

SOUTH AFRICA, Nov. 14, 2019  -- A Moot security guard has been dubbed a hero after he assisted a hit-and-run victim in the east of Pretoria.

Theo Breedt, from Axon security, was praised on Wednesday, as he got an unexpected visit from a motorist he helped more than a month ago.

Jenilee Mosdell was travelling on Brooklyn Road in her vehicle on the night of 9 October, when another vehicle collided with hers at the back.

She suffered minor injuries to the back and neck.

“The vehicle came out of nowhere,” she told Rekord.

Mosdell was staying with family in Mooikloof while finishing her degree at university.

“Despite seeing the security vehicle next to the scene, in which Theo was, the motorist fled the scene,” she said.

“Theo saw what happened and first checked if I was okay before pursuing the other driver.”

After seeing the accident, Breedt phoned an ambulance before chasing after the fleeing driver, said chief operating officer of Axon security, Johann de Villiers.

“After getting all the details from the driver, he returned to the scene to speak to Jenilee’s uncle and advised him how to proceed after an accident had occurred.”

Due to Breedt’s quick response, Mosdell could lay charges at the police station and reclaim the damages against the fleeing driver.
