A San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputy, assigned to the high school as a resource officer, was notified that a student threatened a school security guard Thursday morning. Deputy John Hayes responded to the school and contacted the student, who then fled on foot in an eastward direction toward Bradach Elementary School.
The elementary school was placed on lockdown due to the threats made to the security officer, authorities said.

Hayes continued pursuing the boy and caught up to him in a residential area near the elementary school. The boy was arrested on suspicion of threatening a public official and resisting arrest, sheriff’s deputies said.

Authorities transported the boy to High Desert Juvenile Detention Center in Apple Valley for booking.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Hayes at 760-552-6800. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call the WeTip hotline at 800-782-7436 or visit www.wetip.com.
