After assisting with the vehicle, the guard drove past Palmetto Moon and noticed a woman, 21-year-old Kaitlin Mackenzie Lawrence, wearing jeans and no shirt.

Lawrence then approached the security vehicle and attempted to climb into the open front driver side window, reports say.

The mall security officer pushed the woman away, but then she opened the rear driver side door and got inside the vehicle, reports say.

Officers say the woman then grabbed the security officer by his neck from behind, which caused minor scratches.

Lawrence caused the security officer to lose control of the vehicle and he crashed into a fixed handicapped parking sign, reports say. Officers say the sign and the vehicle were damaged.

The security officer exited the vehicle and he and other mall security officers handcuffed Lawrence and put a shirt over her, reports say.

Officer asked Lawrence why did she get inside the security vehicle and she said she had been riding horses five years ago and that she had fallen from a roof, reports say.

Lawrence’s speech did sound slurred and she smelled of an alcoholic beverage, reports say.

Officers say she refused medical treatment and transportation to the hospital when medics arrived.

Officers took Lawrence to the Greenville County Detention Center and she faces assault and battery charges.
