OAK LAWN, IL July 12 2018- Oak Lawn police and other nearby agencies were called to Advocate Christ Medical Center Sunday evening to break up a fight in the hospital parking lot. According to the a police report, a large group of people upset about the death of a family member who had died in a motorcycle accident attacked an Uber Eats driver, thinking he was somehow involved in the crash.

Officers responded to a call of a large fight around 7:21 p.m. July 8 in front of the hospital at 4400 W. 95th Street in Oak Lawn. When police arrived, a lone unarmed hospital security officer was standing next to the Uber Eats driver's car. Another woman was yelling at the group saying that the driver was not the person they were looking for and to leave. Police later learned that the woman was an off-duty Chicago police officer.

Police said that a family member of the group was struck by another car while on his motorcycle earlier in the afternoon, and that the car had supposedly fled. The motorcyclist died of his injuries at Advocate Christ. The group believed that the Uber Eats driver, who was delivering food at the hospital, was the other driver involved in the crash with the motorcyclist, reports said.

The Uber Eats driver told police that he was pulled out of his car by the crowd and was hit by multiple people, reports said. The driver said he could not identify which people in the crowd that hit him. He refused medical attention and told police that he just wanted to go home and take care of his bloody lip. The Uber Eats driver did not wish to press charges at that time.
Oak Lawn police said the accident involving the motorcyclist happened in Chicago earlier on Sunday. A 40-year-old man was killed when he reportedly collided with another car at 95th Street and Halsted.
