NASHVILLE, Tenn. April 27 2018 A woman previously banned from Walmart has been arrested and is now facing more serious charges than trespassing.

An Asset Protection Employee at the Walmart on Dickerson Pike reported seeing Sharon Mendoza, 43, putting things in her backpack she hadn't paid for, bypassing the cashier and heading towards the exit. That employee and a security officer stopped Mendoza and led her to the Asset Protection Office.

According to her arrest affidavit, once inside the office and seated, Mendoza took a stun gun out of her backpack and attacked the security officer, hitting him in the stomach.

In the process, Mendoza is also suspected of destroying the officer's glasses. The encounter was captured on surveillance video. The officer was able to wrestle the stun gun away from Mendoza and put handcuffs on her.

Stolen items were found in her backpack, according to the arrest affidavit.

She is charged with assault, theft, criminal trespass and vandalism.
