The Central PA Chapter of ASIS International (#79)  is holding a Women in Security Panel Discussion on Thursday, March 16 at the Hershey Country Club, 1000 E Derry Rd, Hershey, PA 17033.
Preceding the panel will be a breakfast meeting beginning at  7:45 a.m. , followed by a short business meeting. Panelists will include female management professionals who will discuss the challenges and rewards  of careers in security.
Every organization must protect its assets from crime, terrorism, espionage, fire, natural disasters and other loss events. As a result, the security industry continues to expand in both the governmental and private sectors. Career opportunities are extensive yet unknown.  Women, as well as many men, are often unaware of the jobs that exist in banking, retail, hospitality, government and the military.
Internal security departments are complemented by a variety of service providers, including uniformed guard services, cash-handling companies, private investigative agencies and personal protection specialists are used by various organizations. Consulting firms have evolved to address the complexity of physical security systems and technical surveillance countermeasures professionals protect against electronic eavesdropping.
ASIS International was founded over 60 years ago and currently has 200 chapters worldwide.  Members include security directors, investigative supervisors, loss prevention professionals, government officials and security consultants. ASIS provides  members with extensive networking  and career development opportunities. It conducts research, publishes educational materials and offers professional certifications.
Chapter 79  is an award-winning chapter established 40 years ago in Harrisburg. The Chapter meets the third Thursday of each month. It has a Speaker’s Bureau, Career Center and an Annual Seminar, scheduled for Friday, May 12 at the Hershey Country Club. Meetings and the seminar are open to nonmembers.
